Vacation Overview

This year we’re taking a driving trip to visit stops along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. We leave on July 6th and return on July 14th.

Like most of our trips we are busy every day. Highlights include taking a float plane to and from Isle Royale National Park, taking a 55 mile cruise around the Apostle Islands, WI, canoeing and fishing in Voyageurs National Park, and seeing the old family cabin at Langford Lake. Other notable stops include seeing my cousins, checking out the Soo Locks, and for the kids, eating at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

Hikes on this trip will be shorter than previous years. Most will be short treks to viewpoints along the lakes, usually less than a mile or two in length. Longer hikes include trails in Isle Royale National Park, the Sea Caves trail in the Apostle Islands, and the Black River Falls trails in the western Upper Peninsula.
